Spearheading the agitation in opposition to the three central farm legal guidelines in Haryana, the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) Sunday burnt effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, his deputy Dushyant Chautala, state BJP chief Om Prakash Dhankar and different a number of BJP leaders at a number of locations in state.

The farmers had earlier introduced that they’ll burn union and state ministers effigy as an alternative of Ravana on the event of Dussehra.

In Kurukshetra’s Shahbad, BKU activists held a protest close to the residence of CM’s political secretary and former minister Krishan Kumar Bedi. Police had to make use of water cannon to disperse the demonstrators.

“No matter farmers have determined, we’ll try this. The Union authorities is saying that they won’t return on the three farm legal guidelines. In the event that they don’t, our protests will proceed in opposition to these draconian legal guidelines. Police had been claiming that they’d arrest all of us. We’re able to be taken behind bars however no person can mute us until these legal guidelines are withdrawn,” the BKU mentioned.

BKU chief Jasbir Singh Mamumajra, who was main the protest in Shahbad mentioned, “We had informed the federal government about our protest. We had mentioned we’ll do it (burn the effigies) and we did it right now. Had authorities not being adamant, there would have been no want for us to burn PM’s effigy. Police picked up a number of farmers. If they don’t seem to be launched, we’ll block roads ”.

The BKU’s state president, Gurnam Singh Chaduni, led a protest at Lakhnaur Sahib village close to Ambala Metropolis within the afternoon. On the protest website, farmers raised slogans in opposition to the Union and state governments and demanded withdrawal of the agriculture legal guidelines.

On October 12, Kurukshetra police had booked Chaduni and others for allegedly making derogatory remarks in opposition to the PM. The criticism was lodged on the Shahbad police station, barely hours after the BKU chief had appealed to farmers to burn effigies of the prime minister in the course of the Dussehra competition on October 25. Chaduni was booked for allegedly “selling enmity” between totally different teams and the intent to impress the “breach of peace” in addition to different prices, police had mentioned earlier.
