Indian Specific critic Shubhra Gupta gave the movie 2.5 stars. In her review, she wrote, “Set in Mumbai, it’s about courageous police commissioner Aaditya Arunsalam (Rajini) who single-handedly units out to wash the town of its criminals. The plot is old-hat, the conditions are older, however that’s okay. We all know what we’re in for: a two hour forty minutes Rajini-thon, wherein he permits the script to offer him set-pieces wherein he’s the fighter, the romancer, the jokester, the dancer, and all the pieces else that you can imagine, all rolled into one.”
She added, “Shetty’s floral shirts are eye-catching. Nayanthara delivers some good thumkas, and a younger feminine cop amongst the male battalion is given a pretty big talking half. However they know, and we all know, that it’s all Rajini’s recreation, wherein he’ll get one of the best traces.”
