NEW DELHI: The ministry of house affairs (MHA) on Tuesday notified new legal guidelines for the Union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
The Centre has repealed or substituted 26 state legal guidelines.
As per the notification, any Indian citizen should purchase land in J&Okay and in Ladakh.
The Centre has omitted “being a everlasting resident of the state” as a precondition to purchase land in J&Okay and in Ladakh.

Reacting to the MHA notification, Nationwide Convention chief Omar Abdullah mentioned that J&Okay is now up on the market.
“Unacceptable amendments to the land possession legal guidelines of J&Okay. Even the tokenism of domicile has been achieved away with when buying non-agricultural land & switch of agricultural land has been made simpler. J&Okay is now up on the market & the poorer small land holding house owners will undergo,” Omar Abdullah mentioned in a tweet.
