As many as ten youngsters, together with 9 women from Imphal East District and a boy from Thoubal District, had been repatriated to Imphal from Kozhikode on Monday.
The kids had been escorted by eight officers of Kerala State together with the Particular Juvenile Police Unit, Kozhikode, District Baby Safety Unit, Kozhikode and two volunteers.
Of whole ten youngsters, 9 youngsters had been inmates of Ciesco Ladies Residence and the boy was an inmate of Calicut Orphanage. They had been repatriated again to the state following an order of the Baby Welfare Committee, Kozhikode, Kerala.
Manipur Social Welfare Minister Henry Okram thanked the Kerala Authorities for enabling the repatriation.
It’s learnt that the repatriation workforce began their journey from Kozhilode on November 19 by highway and reached Imphal Monday night.
On reaching the state, the youngsters together with their escorts had been taken to IIIT, Mantripukhri and carried out COVID-19 testing. After the check, they (youngsters) had been produced earlier than the Baby Welfare Committee (CWC), Imphal East and Baby Welfare Committee (CWC) Thoubal District together with the officers of kid welfare departments of the involved districts.
After having cross-checked and verification of the youngsters, they had been handed over to their respective dad and mom after observing due formalities.
The social welfare division appealed to most people that no youngster be despatched to different states on the pretext of giving free schooling and shelter by any organisation or particular person.
