Main rap artistes from Kerala are featured on the fete streamed on the Basis’s YouTube channel
Rap musicians from Kerala are going locations. Kochi Music Basis (KMF) has put collectively ‘Para’ (Say), a digital hip-hop music competition on its YouTube web page.
“KMF was shaped with the intention of selling indie artistes by way of annual music festivals. However the pandemic didn’t let that occur. So we determined to go for a digital occasion,” says composer Bijibal, one of many founders of KMF.
He provides that hip-hop/rap is evolving as a motion in Kerala. “Music is synonymous with tune. However you may’t insist on that whenever you rap. That’s why we known as it ‘Para’, because the artistes expressed their ideas by way of verses. I used to be stunned by the expertise on the market. To rap a few topic in rhyme and rhythm is just not a simple job,” Bijibal says.
Actor-DJ Sekhar Menon and actor-musician Sreenath Bhasi have been the curators. “We did some analysis earlier than finalising the line-up. Working with these artistes has been a rewarding expertise. All of them are professionals and we simply needed to give the stage to them. There have been solo in addition to duets, which was determined by the artistes themselves,” says Sekhar. The road-up has MC Cooper, Vedan, Avenue Teachers, Fejo, Blesslee, Aditi Nair (Rap Child), Marthyan, Irfana Hameed, Manushyar, Neeraj Madhav (NJ), A.B.I, Indulekha Warrier and Vaishnavi Avees (Vivzy).
The movies have been shot at a studio in Kalamassery close to Kochi. Filmmaker Aashiq Abu was the present director. “We completed the shoot in a day adhering to COVID-19 protocols. It was like a dwell present and in addition to the artistes we had an invited viewers to look at the occasion,” Bijibal says.
